How to Overcome MLM Challenges – Multi Level Marketing Tips For Success

There are plenty of helpful tips available to help you overcome your MLM challenges. In my opinion most of the challenges we face in MLM are avoidable but only if you start off on the right path. When I am faced with a challenge in my primary opportunity its usually around developing new techniques for marketing, lack of customers, or lack of money. As business owners in the field of MLM we are faced with difficult challenges but they aren’t unlike those that any other business owner faces. We do face different challenges because of the nature of our business but if you plan for the unexpected and have a vision for the day-to-day operations of your company you’ll be able to thrive in your business.

Every day businesses are birthed around the world within a dynamic and formidable marketplace where only the toughest survive. If you are in the network marketing industry you know that our environment is particularly fickle and can be a tough training ground for the almost 25,000 people that join Multi-level marketing business everyday in the U.S. and the 95% that fail within their first year.

Most people join network marketing companies not recognizing the importance of having a vision for how their business will grow and function in its infancy. There is concept that many large corporations use to lead their work on a daily basis and I think that it can be particularly effective for network marketers. Its called Strategic Planning. Planning is not a new concept to business corporations but it might be to those that don’t know about its extreme effectiveness for providing a roadmap for any business for periods of 6-months, to 3 years, to 20 years.

By understanding the importance of this process and the questions that go into taking you through it, you can gain a better sense of preparedness for your company’s growth. As someone new to this industry you need as much structure in the beginning as possible to understand how to plan and set and meet your goals. By taking the first step in this process you will exhibit your commitment to your business and your leadership for your organization.

Three Excuses For Procrastination and How to Overcome Them

Everyone procrastinates at some time or another. What makes procrastination a real problem rather than a simple excuse is the next step taken to overcome the issue. To prevent the excuse from turning into a time management problem, consider the suggestions listed below for three of the most common excuses people use for procrastinating.

“I get so much mail that it keeps me from getting other tasks done.”

Mail comes in many forms. There is postal mail, interoffice memos, electronic mail, and internet chat/instant messaging. Elimination of the unnecessary communications is the best way to handle this excuse. For advertisements and catalogs via postal mail or email, the solution is as simple as requesting name and address be removed from mailing lists by calling a toll-free number or going to a website to choose an opt-out option. For interoffice memos and company emails, first check to see if an action is required or if copy is informational to try to get off information-only lists. To get away from internet conversations, turn it off completely or let others know the times this option is appropriate during a planned work day. Most mail items are not urgent, so don’t worry about immediate response but do plan a certain time each day for reading. For urgent items, people will usually pick-up the phone in order to get a more immediate and reliable response. Unless a “need by” date and time is given, the rule of thumb for most business related communications is to respond within 24 hours (preferred is one business day for paper and by the end of business on same day for electronic).

“This project is so big; I just don’t have time to get started.”

While some projects are short-term and can quickly be handled, there are also worthwhile projects that will take many hours to complete. Instead of worry about how much time the project may take, determine the due date for the project and divide the major project into multiple mini-projects or daily tasks. Do this by listing every step and/or task required to successfully complete the main project. Then put the task list in order of the steps necessary to complete each mini-project. After the order has been established, start scheduling tasks to do each day on personal calendar or to-do list going backwards from two days before the final project due date. This method makes the job not seem as large since a little work will get done on the project each day. The extra time padding prior to due date also allows for handling problems that may come up while still keeping the final completion date on-schedule.

“Every time I start a job or go to a meeting my phone rings and disrupts my flow.”

Phone interruptions are more frequent because most people have a phone in their work area and many have cell phones for calls, paging, and text messaging as well. Consider turning the phone off or ignoring it at certain times of the day in order to fully concentrate on high-priority tasks or fully participate in a meeting. Be sure to let key others in the workplace know when unavailable by phone. Or ask someone to be an alternate call handler during the times the phone must be ignored and return that favor for them later. If department rules exist against turning off phones because it is used similar to a pager, consider turning off ringer and using vibrate or text messaging only during the times in meetings. To get back in the flow after a call, have a piece of paper handy to write down current thought or action at time of the call so it is easier to get back on track once call is over. Also use the other side of paper to capture notes during the call to make sure no actions from call get forgotten since forgetting could result in a reminder call later.

To prevent future time management problems, stop or reduce procrastination excuses before they grow out of proportion and become a bigger issue. Use the ideas suggested above for overcoming common procrastinating excuses in order to improve time management. Remember, although many procrastinate from time to time, it is how those typical thoughts are handled that changes them from a potential problem to an easy-to-overcome excuse.

10 Proven Actions to Overcome Self-Doubt and Achieve Success

“Believe it and you can achieve it”. We’ve all heard it, seen it in others, but why it is so hard to believe in ourselves.

I remember a scene from the film “Pretty Woman” when Julia Roberts replies to Richard Gere “The bad stuff is easier to believe. Have you ever noticed that?” Her answer struck a chord with me and I still struggle to find my self-worth to this day.

Why this is true and more importantly what can we do about it?

In her fascinating TED TALK, ” Getting stuck in the negatives”, Alison Ledgerwood demonstrates her results from a series of experiments that prove what we already instinctively knew. It’s easier to believe the negative stuff.

That’s not the end of the story. She explains further, it does take work to think more positively and it is possible to train yourself to be more positive and build your self-esteem.

Here are my top 10 proven actions that have helped me through some bad times into the more positive and productive periods in my life.

1. Every time you have a bad day. Ask yourself “What was good about today?” You always get out of life what you focus on most. If your focus is negative you’ll just get more of what you don’t want but if you break the pattern with a single question and make an effort to focus on what you do want, then you are more likely to achieve it.

2. Set small achievable goals for yourself but make sure you complete them! Inch by inch you will start to feel that you are more capable with each accomplishment.

3. Set out to improve every aspect of your life by just 1%. Think about it. 1 % improvement in each area of your life, each day, builds up your motivation, momentum and your achievements which automatically help you believe in yourself.

4. Take Time Out. When you get stuck. STOP! Break the routine! Walk the dog! Go dancing! Out with friends! Sailing. Whatever you enjoy doing the most, relaxes you and puts a smile on your face. For me it’s saddling up my horses and hitting the trail! I learnt a valuable lesson from a wonderful boss I had many years ago. He used to laugh at me when I would stubbornly stay all night trying to solve a problem at work. He always told me to stop, go home and get a good night’s sleep. Inevitably the next morning, I would find the solution within the first 5 minutes of starting work. Solving a problem quickly gives you more self-confidence and it sure beats struggling on when you’re tired and telling yourself what a “waste of space” you are.

5. Eat that Frog! Mark Twain once wrote “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day” Brian Tracey used the quote as the title of his book for combatting procrastination. The idea is, when you look at your to do list, what is the one task that you least want to do. Do it first and get it out of the way, after, you will feel pumped up and more relaxed. Your productivity will sky rocket for the rest of the day as will your self-esteem.

6. Tell your inner self to “SHUT UP!” In his highly entertaining motivational talks Les Brown, hilariously explains that you would never treat others the way we treat ourselves. When that little voice starts nagging you about how useless you are. Tell it to shut up! It’s not what’s happening around you that prevent you achieving your goals. They are just hurdles you can go over, under or around. It’s our self-defeating inner voice playing on our emotions that holds us back. Give yourself a break.

7. Help other people. There are very few things in life that give you such an instant boost of self-worth than helping someone else. I thrive on helping others especially when I’m feeling depressed it’s an instant reversal to the slippery slope of depression.

8. Recognise your skills. List all the skills you are great at. Can’t think of anything. Ask your friends and family. What is it about you that everyone likes and admires? If your life is just an endless list of mistakes well maybe your worth is as the crash dummy of life. Half the battle in life is avoiding the pitfalls, and if you can help others in that respect then your contribution is invaluable.

9. Face your Fear. My favorite quote on this subject is from Oprah Winfrey “The thing you fear most has no power. Your fear of it is what has the power. Facing the truth really will set you free” In my opinion and through personal experience, facing your fear head on will only make you stronger. Last year was the hardest year of my life. My beautiful 4 yr. old son was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive form of Leukemia. BUT despite the pain, despair, fears of losing him and loneliness at being separated from my other son and my family. I got up every morning to go and sit by his bedside from dawn to midnight. It was hard, very hard but he is on the road to recovery now and both of us have come out of the experience so much stronger and less fearful than before. Do not let fear hold you back. You have so much to offer the world.

10. Do something you believe in. A sense of purpose is one of the most powerful ways to feel fulfilled. When you know why you are doing something. The drive and motivation just flow without effort.

The most important message I want you to learn is keep moving forward. “When you rest you rust” No matter what happens to you in life don’t give up. Let go of the past, stop fighting it. It’s like hitting your head against a brick wall, only you get hurt. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Forgive those who have hurt you. May be you should thank them for they have made you more aware and stronger.

Get off the “Pity Potty”. Dust off your dreams and start living your life. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you. It will not be easy; if it was easy then everybody would be doing it. Success will be all the sweeter, having worked hard and overcome all the obstacles.

It took the horror of my son Leukemia to snap me out of my “I’m not worthy” mindset. Since then I have started a new online business, which allows me precious time to be with my children and animals, financial freedom to buy a new home and I can help other people realize their dreams.

What’s your dream?
