So you would like to work from home, but do not know where to start?
I have been thinking about web-based or online business for a long time now, at least for five years. I am a busy working mum with lots of ideas and no time to waste. But here is the problem. Type in” “home based business” in Google. I found 514,000,000 results in 0.34 seconds… talk about an information overload!
What is just as incredible however, are the jaw-dropping incomes that many are claiming to make, per day, per week, per month, simply by using the Internet, and they claim to be making this money while working from home.
Naturally, we are all intrigued. We want more information. Can these figures really be achieved? And if so, by somebody such as…well…me? In the last few years in particular, there has been a web explosion of eye-popping headlines of earning potential, simply by working from home with your own website. And what’s even more incredible is that- YES! – it would appear that anyone can do this.
Not knowing where to start, and after countless sleepless nights of planning my next step to educating myself in this mystery that is the Internet and its intriguing potential to allow me to build a home based business, I gave up and went back to my 9-5 job convinced that the world of online business is, and always will be, out of my reach.
This was until I stumbled, quite accidentally, across and advert for Chris Farrell while chatting with my friends on Facebook. There was something about the simplicity of the advertisement that caught my eye. I followed the link and listen to Chris’ no-nonsense introduction. Apart from liking his voice (Chris had been a radio presenter in the UK in his pat life), I immediately saw sense in what he was presenting.
Chris’ eBook on how to Create Your First Website By 3:45 This Afternoon gave me the right ‘can-do’ attitude and taught me how to create a website. I soon signed up and received Chris’ amazing Success Grenades. I watched Chris’ 26 Video Course: “A Web Business Explained”. Having satisfied myself of the superior quality of Chris Farrell’s educational material I soon signed up for the membership and completed the 21 Day to Success. In this series I found 21 daily videos with information as well as skill development exercises, all delivered in small doses to allow the new information to really sink in, so that you really understand what you are learning. Chris has also recorded a series of videos on related topics for those needing additional instruction and assistance.
So what have I learnt?
I understood that vital to my success, was a website and in just a week I learnt how to create, design and publish a website. I now know that I can design new sites any time I want. I also learnt an online business is a business just like any business, and whilst fantastic incomes can be made on the web one has to be prepared to put in the hard work and learn the basics, build your list and nurture your relationships.
Establishing an Internet business is a slow process. The majority of people setting up an online business do not make any money, because they suffer from the misguided belief that the web is a magic wand. That it is not, however, $15,000 a month (even a week) can be made, but only when you have spent time (and money) understanding how this business works. The best advice Chris Farrell gave me about setting up my online business was as follows:
“…treat setting up an online business as seriously as setting up an offline business…”
Like any business, the amount of hard work you put in now, will be proportionate to the dividends it will pay later. You reap what you sow.
There are fundamentally four elements all vital to the success of your online business.
1. Possessing the right attitude
2. Having a website
3. Having a product/products to market
4. Being knowledgeable of how to market your product(s)
